This is dedicated to all those travellers affected by Iceland's Eyjafallajokull volcano.

To the Mary Poppins tune.

Poem Artwork

I called my agent Friday night

To book a flight home from France

He just laughed and said to me

You haven’t got a chance

Up in Iceland nature smokes

And belches tons of ash

And if your plane flies into it

We’re certain it will crash

In the background played a tune

That mocks the travelling hopeful

Oh

Supercalifragilisticeyjafjallajokull

I told him it was life or death

He said he didn’t care

There were no flights available

From Europe anywhere

The airport food does not agree

No change of underwear

I’m tired of sleeping on the floor

Listening to the airport speaker’s blare

In the background played a tune

That mocks the travelling hopeful

Oh

Supercalifragilisticeyjafjallajokull

Now the toilets are all full

I’m really tired of travel

I don’t know why each time I fly

My best laid plans unravel

If I could choke the agent through

This line I’d be in jail

Fly the friendly skies my ass

Your honor I’m posting bail

And in the background played a tune

That mocks the travelling hopeful

Oh

Supercalifragilisticeyjafjallajokull

First we get Montezuma's curse traveling to Mexico and now we get "Supercalifragilisticeyjafjallajokull" trying to come home? man...we can't get a break!
You are tickling a lot of funny bones...

Takes talent to turn current events into poetry of humor, Patrick...you've got this down to a fine art...it's a pleasure to read your work, always something to ponder in this den.

Not that it happens often, but that is one reason I don't fly...if I can't drive myself, then I don't go...e

"Supercalifragilisticeyjafjallajokull?" How the hell do you think of this stuff. Very clever and very funny, but too sad to really be really funny.

I never fly, have no wings, What's his name, Lindbergh flew all cross the atlantic, in a well you know what, and you can't get of the ground, except your temper, well you're right, if I heard that tune more than twice, I do might explode, like that volcano in Iceland, especiall if cornered in an airport with simular miscreants in dirty underwear and God help us, french food.
Funny as ever, Blessings! Jasmin Horst

Can't imgaine being stuck at the airport for days on end. What a nightmare. But if it happens, I'll be whistling this song the entire time.

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
