I pulled this off the ABC News wire this morning. True story of a guy in Brewster Mass getting the results of a lung cancer biopsy. My dad died of lung cancer in 2005 so I couldn't resist.

Poem Artwork

Our dear Mr. Svensen

We don’t know what to say

This is your 10th day here in ICU

With chronic symptoms on display

We know you smoked for 60 years

You’re here looking for an answer

Fatigue and coughing with no appetite

Usually points to cancer

So now we’re here to tell you

Your biopsy came back clean

Instead of finding gooey brown

We pulled out something green

You inhaled a bit of dinner

A little while ago

You must have a true green lung

You managed to get a pea to grow

It sprouted deep in your left lobe

A small pea affecting you chronically

We suggest you try another way

Rather than grow yours hydroponically

In the meantime mind your P’s & Q’s

And if you don’t mind a bunch

We’re going to have a nurse supervise

While you eat your peas for lunch

HAha, very clever rhyming Patrick. We're a little behind here in Oz, but I can vouch for your story, I actually saw it on our news tonight! Low and behold...you come up with this gem.

Keeping an eye on my P's & Q's

Very funny write Patrick!

Yuch, so I don't care for peas. But I like the little violet flowers that come along with them ~
I've never had a ciggy, and I never want one. Yuch.
Peace and Peas,
Christine

I wish I could grow "something" green inside, then I wouldn't have to buy it or smoke it, it could just ooze its buzzness into me from the inside out...;-)e

Truth truly is so much stranger than fiction. Smokers! People that smoke, adults that smoke knowing full well what may/can happen and yet...? How many AD members still smoke, and yet...? What a great poem, Patrick, my friend.
