Burma Shave Gets Religion

Hide a prayer deep in the mist

Save it for a rainy day

You never know where on God’s list

His answer will be when you finally pray

 

I turned one cheek

She turned the other

I’d have filed charges

But she was my mother

 

Do unto others

As you’d have them do unto you

Unless it’s illegal

Or morally untrue

 

He did unto others

As they did unto him

But he was outnumbered

Now he hangs from a limb

 

Counting the sins

Of your fellow man

Is like choosing the fire

Instead of the pan

 

Hellfire and damnation

I believe I can compare

To my morning commute

I’m already there
