While winter is bitter, it heralds great things.

Poem Artwork

There is a man

scraping the ice from his car windscreen

there is a dog nearby

wondering if he should go indoors.

There are birds on the roofs

looking bemused

not quite sure what to do

and theres me inside

looking out thinking

I am better where I am.

Above are patches of blue sky

and sunlight dazzels

where the snow lies,

shadows are vivid

like painted black

and a single yellow rose

still sits on a bush at the back.

Just another day in winterland

passing through the months

very soon spring will come

then the ground will erupt,

burst forth with life held asleep

beneath the ice and snow,

protected by the soil above

until the signal lets go.

Oh winter though you are no friend

you do bring expectation

for what follows you

comes with much apprieciation.

Beautifully imaged, John. Unless we have a miracle, there will be no White Christmas this year. Again. 26 in a row now ... LOL! Well done.

(((HUGS))) love and Merry Christmas!, Karla.

Right on, John. Some of us love the cold of winter. I will take the warmer weather any time.

GOD BLESS
Tony
