In this world, little consideration is given to the increasing banishing of nightime. For Birds it is a real pain, sometimes protesting throughout their banished night, due to some errant street lamp.
Throughout the night
I heard this Bird
tweeting away
sounding all alone
like on a protest
you might say.
Well i looked out of my window
I will say
with some disdain
for i wanted to rest
then his tweeting began.
Yet as I spied
upon this Bird
I felt pity for him
almost felt a twinge
maybe I should join
his campaign.
You see what I saw
did annoy my heart
for I had never before
considered his plight,
for he never had rest
from a wretched street light.
Amid his tree
throughout the night
this tall concrete pillar
ontop a bright light,
while there below
its incumbent display
that little Bird
night after night
would be protesting away.
All he wanted
was the return of his night
some darkness that he might sleep
without this
piercing light in his eyes.
I wanted to ask him
why he did not move
then i remembered
that Lampost they did move,
For many a year
he had resided there
where the shade of night
was everywhere,
now it has gone
I feel his pain
maybe I should join his protest
get that Lampost
moved again.
