Nature surely has the right to send up distress signals.
Every day brings a new cry for help. I see it everywhere
as I sit on summer's doorstep and stagger from the
thirty-eight degree temperatures that chill the air and make
my arthritic joints throb. One can never take pride playing
a part in the concrete jungle. We have bigger fish to fry
and a planet that is starved for love and affection.
Remembering what the seasons were about...The joy
and anticipation that each carried to fulfillment. I scoff at
pollution and damn its air thieving tendrils to the
Eternal Fires of Hades.
Sun-filled horizons hazed over with the glaze of toxic
fumes, swift moving streams drinking remnants of
yesterday's industry acid wash...Earth is becoming
a manmade oil field carrying disease, death and destruction.
Generations to come will weep in our wake, recalling
that we stood by and decided their fate. Natural resources
will become luxuries controlled by the highest bidder and
paid for in blood. Think deeply, it's already begun.
I refuse to leave my beloved earth without returning what
I've received. Pollution is only a way of life if we let it be.

Paul,

So much is wrong with the things we are doing to this planet. We use it as if there's another waiting in the wings. Love the descriptions in this piece - they say it all! I've often wondered if the government has knowledge of other options for travel and heat. I fear they keep them under wraps because if known, entire industries as we know them would collapse. The last line of this is something we should all take to heart~ Sheila

WOWOWOWOW!!!! Totally spot on, Paul, and I love the style you have chosen for this clarion dirge and call to action... This hits with the searing pain and urgency of a siren. I commend you for it. Like us, a change of administration perhaps would be good... ooops... did I say that... But hey... these are all our kids we're talking about, right?? LOL Kate xx

Smack on target !!! In our area [NC piedmont}, one of the main symptoms is w i n d. Lost a 100+ ft. oak a couple weeks ago. In
MAY!! Unheard-of. So much breeze, you feel as if you're at the beach. . .without the sand and scenery and fun-in-the-sun.

Thank you for beating the drum for change. It is past time to be
scared, and you have done a great job of spelling that out.

Here's to a less poisonous tomorrow!!

I echo your sentiment -- just wish everyone else on this "Big Blue Marble" did, too. Keep your head up and dwell in the knowledge that many of us feel the same way. It ain't easy bein' green. {wink}

Paul, you've captured a great writing in this poem, the world's beauty is quickly being destroyed by industry, population, and development explosions. Our streams are screaming to be clean again & our air is tired of pollution...it's a matter of every person on this earth screaming out loud, and saying, "Cean up the world." I hope this write will open some eyes before it's to late.

Paul,
Our world has become insane. Our beautiful horizons ARE being glazed over with toxic fumes, and polluted streams. Where once their was beauty now its a wasteland. Awesome write on a painful subject.

Many blessings,
~Linda

Society has become greedy, and selfish...hunting animals to kill for no reason other than the kill creating extinction, woodlands destroyed and never replanted or restored, so much garbage no where to put it except landfills, and our water has become a toxic dump...all for self gain or self pleasure. I believe that many have come to believe that our world is an endless supply of what we need for survival....many people are wrong! Great write, a great reminder or wakeup call!

I never understood the wisdom of a man with an ax entering a forest when he doesn't need wood or a man that go fishing but don't eat fish
There is a lot of ways to pollute our world.

Well said, Paul. Sometimes I question man's so-called wisdom...especially when they have no obvious answers to rectifying the world's problems.

Nature was on my mind yesterday, Paul ("The Color of Wind"). You've penned a powerful thought provoker here, what we've done to the Earth and its inhabitants, what we continue to do is a crying shame. Excellently written!

Paul, I salute you for having the courage to speak out. "...Earth is becoming a manmade oil field carrying disease, death and destruction"
I feel the frustrations indicated in your "S.O.S". The earth is home for the populance, yet that same populance is destroying their home.

(Even worse are those in the food industry who are poisoning our foods with chemicals.) I had to take radiation treatments a year ago for cancer, and I noticed the cancer clinic had a HUGE room with shelves upon shelves of thousands of patient folders of cancer patients. Approximately 40 years ago, we rarely heard of people having cancer. So, what's causing it, if not the chemicals that are being put in food, and the poisoned water from waste products?
