Redwood, wood chips Surround a palm tree Plants properly spaced Augustine grass Is green as can be. Soft winds against the palms Making natural melody Skies are gray Air still humid. The sun's attempt to glow Is but a round stain On the endless gray above Silence is thick I can hear myself think. Thoughts are rushing Through my head Dusk is approaching What will the night bring? Two Red Masked Cranes Visiting. They know and trust me By now Resting daily Near my house. They prim and groom Stand on one leg Attempt To rob a nab With one eye open Always alert. Bestowing their blessings Up on me As a reward For the respect, I share With them Those magificient Red Masked Cranes. By: William Bonilla 9/06/04
