The Earth quakes, shakes
Like a wet dog drying himself
Renewing itself from within
Liquid magma flows
'Neath eyes unseen
Plates shift, slip and slide
Falling into valleys and gullies
Only five miles deep
Forcing mountains to reach
Higher towards the sky
And deeper into hell
Bays of water sucked dry
By whirlpools and vortex
Into the abyss
Or is it the bottomless pit?

Somewhere oceans across
Sky scrapers topple
Like Dominos in a game
Some enploding from within
Leaving rubble residue
A few stories high
Till there's nothing left
Within the sky
Nothing left to narrate about
The present plight
Calamities after another
Father Earth smiles
With soothing moments
Of serene
Between eons of the past
When he relished
The dinosaurs of the feast and fast
Who Will be Next?
Only Father Earth Knows.

Don't know, just want my soul ready. LOL. I've been so overwhelmed these last few years, William, it's like Earthquakes? Tsunamis? Bring it on! (Don't take me seriously on that, God.) Liked your write, though. ;-) ~~Nordette

Truly sounds like The End Days Approach - and who will be next? Perhaps, all of us.

Who will be next? is a reason why we need to stay humble and never forget we are truly powerless...

So true William so true and it is said that the next plate that shifts is just off Cape Henry.

Through the lines of "Who Will Be Next?", - a chronicle of our turbulent days - is pictured. It is a wake up composition to strike deep thoughts.

"Who Will Be Next?" enriches the pages of Poetry.

Bill,

You're right--don't say we weren't warned! LOL (Read Revelations to find out what's in store.)

An excellent, thought provoking, interesting read; thank you!
