The beautiful Yellow Rose
I viewed yesterday
Saw her glory, as she blossomed
To it's point of admiration
Today she's over grown
Losing her magnificence
As she rapidly matures.
Something bright caught my eye
Across my patio garden
I slowly approached
To investigate
To satisfy my curiosity.
Behold!
The loveliness of my vision
Was a blooming Gardenia
Snow white
She beckon me
I was at awe
Had to touch her
Her firm silkiness
Was a blessing
To my finger tips.
I couldn't keep my eyes
Nor my hands, off her
Her soft sensuous feeling
Broght lovely thoughts to my mind
I wised they could share with us
More time
In a few days
This lovely Gardenia
Would be
Like the beautiful Yellow Rose
That sadden me
She left an impression
On my visual senses.
I gently removed my hands
From her softness
To groom her green leaves
I enjoyed counting her buds
I walked away
From the patio with a smile
Knowing that tomorrow
They too, will hold me
At awe
Leaving me
With an anticipation
Of satisfaction.
just went to a state botanical garden the other day and was overcome with the beauty of a simple flower, a plant, a tree planted near a stream. wonderful poem that fills the senses. Dawn
I love both roses and gardenias, though gardenias don't care much for the high desert here. When I lived where they would grow, I would bring in several at a time and float them in a beautiful bowl...their fragrance gracing my home for several days. I love my flowers, each day as I go out into the garden, they bathe my senses with with their renewed beauty and delicious fragrance.
