She is the lone beauty
Of her thorny host
Last of the season's buds
She stands out
Like a sparkling diamond
Among stones.
How gorgeous she looks
Among her fading host
Stealing the scene,
Like an actress
from the silver screen.
Her iridescent orange color
Resembling that of a tropical
Sunset
Beautiful as only she can be
No one
Could ever hold a candle to her.
As she is surrounded
By green plants, lawns
The green background
Of the lovely swamp
That resides
In my panoramic, vista.
I shall continue staring at her
In awe
Until she withers away
Until her lovely soft petals
Dry away
Falling into the infinity
Of no return.
stiff browned petals noisily
drag along the conrete patio
as they are carried
by gentle passing winds
With no directions nor destination
Just blowing in the wind.
engulfed securely among
A mini swirling vortex
Ascending her remains
Into the glory
Of her heaven.
Beautiful write but that flower cannot be lonely. It has many admirers to see it bloom its last and will bebloom again in time.
I do like the literaly way you presented this and the words are so spoken to enrich the soul.
Ahhh, this is so descriptive and lovely, William. You've captured so perfectly how it is, the last rose of the season, your amazement and delight, and her eventual demise. But spring brings new birth!
Lovely!

The last bloom of the season as Autumn closes in, how romantic it is! I savor my final blooms and stare at the tomatoes that are still on the vine wondering if they will make it to maturation before the season brings a freeze and strangles off the umbilicals that feed them. I suspect that this happens so that the nearly ripe fruit will drop to the ground and leave fertile seeds for the spring, but these are the final harrahs from this year's garden before the chill of winter lays them to rest, and I savor every moment and bloom. I still need to pick my lavender and bring it inside for the winter; doing so always signals the end of my gardening for the year. Beautiful write, William.
Take care,
Sherry
I apologize for this in advance if I wrong because it was such a beautifully written poem. I couldn't help thinking this poem was about a dandelion. Nevertheless, it is a great write.
