There is a full moon above
In the clear skies
Of dark velvet heavens
Gifting us
A beautiful bright night
The night is quiet
Silence is but a ringing
In my ears
Deafening and calm
At the same time
You can hear
The foraging footsteps
Of wandering deer, feeding at the eadge
Of the forest
As they gently trample
Through dry leaf covered grounds.
There's a chill in the air
As I adjust my scarf tightly
Zipping up to keep warm
A hoot I hear, at a distance
An owl searches for prey
While still perched
Atop a anciet dry oak
Stealthily
He descends from his perch
Pouncing upon his prey
His vision magnifies
A hidden rodent
A ruffling of leafs
A screeching of death
Swooping swiftly and airborne instantly
With silent wings
Prey clutched securely
Within his deadly claws.
I sit with my back
Against an oak
At the edge of the forest
Blending my thoughts with nature
Marveled
I stare into the darkness
Sharpening my vision
Silvery moonbeams
From La Bella Luna
Illuminated my muse
With silvery rays, slicing sporadically
Through and between
The thickness of trees
Above the dark velvet heavens
A million star sparkle
Like glitter
On a rhinestone cowboy.

What a wonderful creation my friend that flows off of your silver pen!
Sensational, loved it!
Semper Fi' all the way, and I thank you.

A marvelous poem, William. Since childhood, I've enjoyed sitting out there in nature's realm, with my back to an old tree, listening, observing, and gazing heavenward at good old bella luna.
