Beautiful is this day
Hot morning
Just saw the silhouette
Of a lovely Mockingbird
Perched at my neighbor’s
Rooftop

Not singing her usual
Melodies
Just sitting there
Looking ever so majestically.

Than I looked down
At the side of my garden
At an iridescent
Object
Which caught my sight.

She dwells in a clay pot
A Rose
As beautiful as a dream
Her bright hues
Attract my attention.

As I awe
At her magnificence
Her Thorns protect her
From what?
I often wondered.

Who in their right minds
Could ever conspire
To do her harm
Or
To mar her in any way.

I
I for one, just wish
I could sit here all day
And enjoy
The beautiful vision
She will become
When fully bloomed.

But life is such
Time don’t wait for anyone
My instinct tells me
I’ll just have to move on.

William, I stumbled on this older poem of yours as it was listed in the POPULAR POETRY - Nature box found on the side of the page when viewing a poem. I clicked on it and was very much impressed. I'm still learning about this site and marvel at the fact that a 3 year old posting would still be highlighted in such a manner. I often read your more recent works and have even commented occasionally. The site seems to be serving you well. Love your work. Dick

Well I wish I could sit all day and watch all the beauty of the world that I am surrounded by, but as you say there isn't time for everything, what a shame. You write beautiful words William. Thank you.

Did you know that there are rose which have no thorns? But that's just trivia. We always associate roses with thorns. I often think that it is God's way of reminding us of His crown of thorns which through suffering produced such beauty of salvation. Victor
