From My "Raven Series"
Survival Along the way When I was young Searching for answers At noon on a lonely road I stop to inspect Something that caught My attention I exit my car To my surprise I scared a raven away He and a snake were battling I saw the snake was injured The raven flew away To spy upon me Perched on a telephone pole. I reached to assist the snake She turned on me Struck At my helping hand. I gently stepped on her Grabbed her by the head Placed her into A paper bag Took her home. released her into my garden As I wandered Why these two unholy creatures Were battling about Than it came to me One for Survival The other to survive.
