Can’t Breathe
~~~*~~~
Can't breathe
Nasals arid
as A desert wind
The running ceiling fan
Cools me not
It dries
My sleepless eyes.
Too much
Tossing and turning
Unable to think,
Senseless thoughts
Occupying my mind
Leaving no room
For my fears
Of the night.
My stomach
Is performing
It's own concert
Like children whimpering
In their heavenly sleep.
Can't wait to see
The eastern skies
Fading to gray
Reviling the outlines
Of the trees.
I crave
For the orange hues
To paint the heavens
Of the horizon east
I'll know then
Tomorrow is outside.
It's always tomorrow. On such nights I put the radio on and if it's something interesting, then it's zzzzzzz
Everything seems better in the morning. All of the thoughts that keep one awake at night seem to run and hide from the sun. Great write!
Love ya!
Can so relate, William. I have had a pattern of staying awake all night for no particular reason and get that sinking feeling when I know that 'ping', the switch in the brain, that means it's going to happen. Great physical and evocative descriptions and the mood clearly conveyed. Perhaps now you're feeling sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy... xx
It's only when I eat late, when I have something on my mind that is troubling me, or I'm too hot or too cold, that I can't sleep. So I can't comment.
Full moons bring, sleep troubles sometimes,
Change in seasons and moody minds.
Hope your tossing and turning will stop,
Soothe your stomach with ice cream and pop.
Sit in your rocking chair and look to the east,
Those beautiful skies will give you great peace!
Enjoyed this one William!
Sounds like a tossing and turning night without end, but never without desires. It is bright and sunny here in the swamp this morning. Hope it is the same where you are.
