Spider's Silk

Evening has arrived
On this hot Georgia
Dog day, almost 100
degree.

It's just past
A few minutes
After six
Preparing myself
For a restful sit down
With nature.

There's silence in the air
My eyes observantly
Move from right to left
Capturing all
my open mind can
Comprehend.

The sight
Most meaningful to me
Boggles my mind
A single strand
Of "Spider's Silk"

Gently wavering
In the warm evening
Breeze
Between
a tiki lamp
And the outdoor grill.

This minute scene
Has amplified
All my senses
Nothing else at the moment
That surrounds me
Matters.

Your poem shows immense concentration. The kind of concentration that Thoreau used to describe his fellow human behavior. In your case, it may just be a fascination with the wonders of the natural world… Spider or not.

Oh, so many, many times in my life have I been mesmerized by that spiders' silk, my friend. Spectacular in shape, design and scope, they never, ever disappoint . . .
