Ed. Kostro inspired me to write this poem after reading his poem "Unconditional Love" on Hachiko, a dog´s tale. This is a true Hachiko type story of Somali Version. It would be good if we can have other versions of this story in the Den.

He was a loving, caring cattle owner
He spoke with his cows through telepathy
He understood their feelings passionately
Verbalized their expressions with fervour
Cleaned their shed, removed the tick
But one morning he did not show up
He died peacefully in his sleep
Swings of sad mood hovered over
Not only people suffered the loss
But the pain also touched the cows
They couldn’t hold themselves back
They crashed the wooden fence
Jumped over the barbed wires
Swarmed on his grave wrathfully
Digging with hoofs, dipping horns
He used to feed and water them adequately
Not the mechanical way we treat nature
But a tender way to reach their hearts
If you give animals an unconditional love
The reciprocate is an unconditional loyalty
There is a lesson in animal-human bondage
