Some 'necessary' things are often taken for granted ... like an inside toilet :)! This is dedicated to the memory of the chamber pot, outhouses and modern conveniences :)!

Went to sleep with a chamber pot
right beneath my bed.
Couldn't sleep for the awful stench
right under my head.
After dark, when all lights were out
didn't step outside
where snakes would coil, hide.

Mom and Dad both had separate seats--
his was near the moon.
His hide was wide we kids could slide
in the ooze. KABOOM!
Daddy put a seat on each hole
but we shivered,
half-frozen, quivered.

Put a chemical toilet IN ...
oh, what a delight.
After Dad died, went to heaven--
it never worked right.
Back inside came the chamber pot
and back out we went.
It was sheer torment!

Sewer lines came, toilet inside--
could 'go' as needed.
Now when you come to visit us,
use it! Be seated
and enjoy the swirl of the flush!
Swish daily with brush
this toilet ... is US!
