Clyde's a corndog with survival skills galore. This time he's hoping to avoid a 'slam-dunk' that could prove fatal!
*********************
Clyde, the corndog, hates winter.
He's more apt to be 'dinner'.
When there's chili on the stove,
people say; "Chilly? Chili?
Ev'ry night Clyde prays for heat,
not to be devoured meat.
Deli's seize him treasured trove.
Swirling in mustard, Clyde slides
past delicatessen eyes.
"Chili with or without beans?"
People say, "Chilly? Chili?
Do you think it's going to snow?"
If it snows, Clyde has to go
put on a sweater and jeans.
Clyde the corndog's cornmeal coats
scrumptious splits when Clyde bloats.
"Like onions in chili,"
people say, "Chilly? Chili?"
Clyde likes his with grated cheese.
Chili and hot dogs? Oh, please!
"Don't you dare reach out, touch me!"
The furnace, set on ninety,
has ev'ryone sweaty.
Hear they're going to BBQ.
Too hot not chilly. Chili?
Though there's snow to their eyeballs,
can't find the grill. Snow stalls, squalls.
Clyde decides to run, ska-doo.
Caught a breeze to the North Pole,
Clyde learned a dance, a go-go!
No one minds his stick is split.
Natives say, "Chilly? Chili?"
Ev'ryone drew out ketchup
as Mustard has the hic-cups.
Elves surround Clyde. He's been 'hit'!
Santa, leaving, saves poor Clyde
to the States gives him a ride.
Clyde's present Mexico;
still they say, "Chilly? Chili?"
In the spring Clyde hops a train
his leg healed from the wound, sprain
to freedom in Ohio.
Ev'ry dog will have his day;
Buckeye farm dogs merely lay.
