Glymp, glop, splish, splash.
“Waiter.”
“Yes?”
“There’s a fly in my soup.”
“And?”
“He’s got a few friends.”
“So?”
“They’re trying to fly out.”
Waiter removes the flies and puts them in the coffee cup. The waitress then pours coffee.
“Ma’am.”
“Yes?”
“There’s a fly in my coffee.”
“Really?”
“He’s got a few friends.”
“That’s nice.”
“See, they’re dead and floating.”
“Did you want live ones?”
“No, I didn’t flies of any sort.”
Waitress huffily takes the cup and the bowl of untouched soup. She brings ‘fresh’ servings of each.
Glymp, glop, splish, splash.
“Waiter.”
“Yes?”
“There are ants in my soup.”
“Ants?”
“Yes, synchronized swimmers, see?”
“How quaint.”
“Do you have any soup WITHOUT insects?”
Waiter picks out the ants, puts them in his mouth and washes them down with the coffee.
“Waiter?”
“Ma’am?”
“You ate it, you pay for it! I’m out of here.”
The waiter watches the matronly lady leave and sits down in her chair.
“Waitress.”
“Yes, Freddy?”
“A handful of flies and ants please.”
She brought him two large scoops--one for the soup; the other for his coffee.
Turning green, Freddy contentedly croaked.
