In defense of the mark?

When the question marks march across the page

hold down the fort and, please, contain your rage.
Sometimes it's just a passing thing, a stage.
Hold on to your hat and I'll cover my ears
if you're going to use language like that!
It's better to have the question marks still
?????? ?????? ??????
but someone always needs to know . . . and always will.
Would you prefer exclamations quite shrill?
Hold on to your tongue and don't let it loose . . .
it's apt to get you kicked in the caboose.
When boldly they march with their heads held high
?????? ?????? ??????
they vow to do their duty; do or die.
They so proudly serve, it brings tears. I cry.
Anyone can question, ponder all things.
The quest for 'knowledge' is the 'why' questions spring.
When question marks cover the page, it's fine
?????? ?????? ??????
It goes to show someone's using their mind
so questioning 'logic' isn't unkind.
Answer the questions, do the best you can,
women flock to an intelligent man!
