We’re a blushing pair
but folks hardly care
that we each have a mind of our own.
People admire sheen
but ignore our green.
They can’t wait to get us both alone.
They’ll devour us post-haste
once they get a taste.
Shouldn’t they savor us like a date?
We’re certainly fruity--
for pears we’re cuties--
picked off the tree too early, our fate.
'Tis a curse being sweet . . .
hungry, they will eat.
Pick a blushing pear of your own
and leave us alone!
