Mo' Lasses

Syrupy or sloppy . . . mo' lasses was the rage in the west OR was it mole asses :)? Thanks for the suggestion Leland!

In ancient western days,
when panning was the rage,
men begged for mo' lasses
and slowly . . . lasses came.

Unattractive ladies
some nearly 'pushing' daisies
(plus some of ill repute)
. . . all lasses just the same.

Women came in handy
(though some guys were 'dandy').
Men ached for mo' lasses
to farm and fix the food.

The dainty one were taken
'afore these brutes . . . were quakin'.
Not having much a choice--
in wild days things were crude.

Most had but one good dress;
most tried to do their best.
Men asked for mo' lasses
. . . without an attitude.

When more women arrived,
and they learned to survive,
women asked for mo' men
to replace those mole asses!

Humor is difficult in poetry, and you've done well with your final two lines & this subject.

I'd suggest breaking the poem into stanzas, to help show its transitions. It can accommodate six (4 lines apiece).

Hmmm. Let me see, now. Ah, yes. How about "Handy Dandy Lion Puller?"
Write on!
