Five old cranes stood on tippy-toes
(mimicking a dance called ballet).
Cranes heard about a ballet bar—
in their tutu’s, had too many.
The barman didn’t dance—that blows!

One took a spin and got dizzy
then fell out of her stilettos.
Enroute down gaped, caught a big one.
Wise crone number two caught a bug,
spit it out, petted it, so chintzy.

Pirouetting number three drilled
disappeared into the earth.
The final two switched to one leg—
four tripped and went out with high tide.
Two gills swooped to nibble, she’s thrilled.

One stood a long time all alone
then picked up her cellular phone.
“Wear your stilettos, honey,
change your tutu to a ball gown.”
Orders! She hung up, stayed there alone.
