green the shallow island sea
where crustaceans feed
sand scrubbed stones sparkle
like precious asymmetric emeralds
and kelp sways in the ebb and flow
of soothing tidal rhythms

green the low palm frond
beneath which she hides from the tropic sun
but not the power of his binoculars
as gracefully she lubricates the curves
of her long bronzed legs
one leg thrown carelessly to the side
the other pulled tight to her narrow chin
revealing a scant patch of pink flesh
the sun has yet to caress

green the convenient umbrella tree
from which he silently stalks
observing the teasing way her dark silken hair
flies freely around her slender face
the sensual pout in her lips
the wrinkle in her slightly uplifted nose
the studied squint in her shaded eyes as she
reaches with an artist's practiced hands
to brush soft virescent paint on her perfect toes
exposing the deep cleavage in her bikini top

green the unharnessed envy he experiences
when a tiny sand fly lights on her knee
the lust he no longer restrains
as he stumbles from the seagreen shadows
she a sultry goddess lazing in her island retreat
taunting him mocking him
until at last she elevates her divine visage
playfully removes the green shades
revealing deep brown eyes
that gaze seductively in his direction
and for that ephemeral moment
smiles at him
in guileless amusement

The weight of green in this piece is extraordinary. I love how the color carries throughout and how you almost hold your breath in anticipation of her next move and can almost feel his desire as he peers through the binoculars. A superior visual experience ... entirely enjoyable, Gene! Well done ~ Elizabeth (thanks for recommending this one)

Your passion and exquisite verse is unmatched in this fine work my friend. I believe this is my favorite to date. I have read it three times and still find a hidden romantic gem with each new view.....Beautiful poetry Gene!

How did I miss this one, Gene? Keep writing like this, and you'll see plenty of green: superb.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

My favorite color, grey: the color of stormy skies. :)

Seductive imagery that one should preserve for those 'down times' (depression) ... you could actually visualize this :)! Cool!

The guy watching is in danger of having a melt down. I want to know where this island is. I'll make sure to bring a camera. I'll never think of the color green the same way again. From the color of nature it has now blossomed into the color of passion. The next time I see a palm tree, I'm going to look around. I wonder if this hot babe knows it's dangerous to play with fire. I've always wanted to visit some far away Pacific island.

... think I'll just fly away to where you are right now, Gene... the old collective consciousness is at it again! I've just posted some rather green-envisioning thoughts of my own! Guess there's a lot of green-eye about me with this write. You are doubtless the darn best poetic paparazzi around! Vivid and vital, this is indeed living and highly energised/energising writing. xx

You could almost turn an avid yellow lover into a green one with this beautifully green saga. What a lovely and tempting write Gene. I still say you have many more colors to explore, many that you could give life to as you have in this and all the others. Love and hugs, Bonnie

Caught in the act? One's attention is focused on the lust rather than the green waters embracing her toes. Reminds me more of my Your Weeping Willow and Summer Tease.

I was beginning to think you never used the word "and" until this:
"and for that ephemeral moment
