Poem about October in the midwest. This one applies to November in the southwest.

 The wind blows
 orange leaves
 across my path

My skin gets goose bumps
as the wind
seems to blow
through my frame

 I drink tea 
 and hot water
 to stay warm

Put on socks
when i go to bed
Cringe at the thought
of what is coming

Thankfully as a Floridian, I'm exempt from what you are getting ready for. It sounds like you're well prepared. You've expressed it well. The lovely thing for anyone who experiences a harsh winter with bare trees and snow on the ground...spring is coming and the tender leaves will soon hang from the trees in a way that we can't appreciate as fully as you will.

Yes, winter is not the fun used to be as we age. But we can have fun memories of ice-skating, snow shoveling, and skiing/sledding when we were young.

Reminds me of September Song. Every time I hear it, I feel my age.
