On the Wind

Poem Artwork

In ancient times, they say,

There were some men of sort

Who rode on the wind

And pursued their way

With an admirable indifference

To all external things,

Always returning, however,

After a three-day flight,

To their own placement.

In regard to things that are supposed

To contribute to happiness,

Those guys were free from

All endeavours to possess them.

But though they had not to walk,

There was still something bigger

Than them all, on which

They were depended badly--

And that big deal was the tail wind

They had every time to wait for.

But let's imagine someone else,

A perfect guy, who mounts on

The ether of Heaven and Earth

In his operations and who drives

Along the six elemental energies

Of the alternating four seasons,

Thus enjoying himself

In the illimitable reason--

What has he to be depended on?

What has he to wait for?

Therefore, it is said that

The true man has no thought

Of his self; the spirit-like man

Thinks of his merits no more;

The sagely-minded man,

None of a good name."

 Reviews of "On the Wind"

Like Bob Dylan wrote: "The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind." I think that many men travel lives blown by the four winds. Unfortunately they are often supported and live off the backs of others. In a sense they are despots.

On the other hand, a man with no wishes for fame or wealth, but only wisdom, is truly fury where the wind blows.

By the way, those ladies sure are free in their pursuit of reaching terminal velocity!

We seem to be on a similar wave length, pursuing the wind. We both have poems invoking the wind on the same day. Chance encounter or is there a greater wind blowing here. John
