Last night I've seen a rare dream:
A Great Rebellion in which
A thousand, no, tens of thousands
Of encouraged young men
Who left the stuffy cities and
Their glass and steel buildings,
Walking around with their
Lightly packed rucksacks,
Climbed up the hills to pray
To the spirits of mountains
And the gods of streams. At that,
Their many friends gaily laughed
But parents rejoiced ineffably. . .
They all were the fearless darer
Who were going about rewriting
The old stories and lost songs
For their own rebirth and gladness
Of the generations yet unborn.
I just heard this morning that a young man, 31, has just completed climbing the nine highest peaks in the world in 139 days, a world record. He suffered great hardship to do this, but gained greater insight from those sterling heights.
