"Rain - Rein - Reign"

Deluge


Molecules collide.
Clouds burst.
Droplets pour
upon the Earth.

Pools form,
trickles escape,
trailing others,
converging into rivulets.

They merge --
an indeterminable force,
forging its determined course,
innocuous -- unnoticed.

Currents converge
with creeks,
joining springs,
abounding and rambunctious.

All unite Mother River.
She, normally gentle,
now surges forth in rage,
inundating all.

Water gushes, engulfs --
submerging utterly.
Deluge -- ominous and rueful,
rubble and corruption rule.

Life, limb, land are lost!
Rain has purged Terra Firma,
confirming man's
ineptness to Rein.
Mist rises to ---
Reign again.
