One of the reasons I wrote a story (and this poem from a story) about a lady pirate is because my nickname 'Chanti' (pronounced Shuntee) is very close in sound to the pirates song or Shanty.
This was in fact written as a song but works as a poem. The story chronicles her daring escape, the theft of the treasure map and her adventures across the seven seas to retrieve it and finally her attempt to claim the treasure.
Being an old sailor that had reincarnated many times to live again the bucaneer's life...I don't thing she would have walk on the plank of my ship, she would had shared all of my treasures.
A poem full of Rum, Cutthroats Swords and fun under the sails.

There is something rough, disgusting and magical about pirates, and you have captured these things perfectly in this well constructed and perfectly penned masterpiece, Chanti. I love that you have a lady pirate in this. From what I have read, she must have posed as a man to get aboard the ship since women were never allowed, but occasionally found a way.(Women were considered bad luck on a pirate ship, you know) I am glad I came here late so that I know there is another chapter in this wonderful tale. Hey Felix you might just get to read a next installment. It is already part written. Of course she can't die. That would be just wrong! My son loved the story but doesn't know what to think about the fact that the heroine is a lady pirate.

I cannot believe how many things we share in common, Chanti,
especially since reading this poem. My son, who disappeared 18
years ago, is named David! He loved to play 'pirate' as a child,
and I enjoyed playing right along with it. I miss him terrribly.

Great theme and flow. She was smart in keeping its location to her self. Had she devuldged it she would have to walk the plank anyway. Stupid pirates, lose two treasures at once.
