Back in my home base of Miami for a few weeks after my marathon hip-hop across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. For starters, a recent nature sonnet. . .

Sweet River Travel
By John Herlihy

The boat in gentle waters,
Rocking to the rhythm of waves.
Overhanging willows like idle squatters,
A awning of blue sky inspires and saves.
My heart content with soothing rhythms,
Drawn from the river’s depths.
My life journey patiently driven,
By the steady force of my breaths.
A gentle breeze brush strokes my cheek,
My thinning hair responds in kind.
In awe of Mother Nature, I feel meek,
Her beauty draws all worries from my mind.
Between worlds, I have entered a twilight zone;
All the world, all my life, but wind of spirit blown.

A memorable nature poem and image to match. Miami, Florida is so urbanized, I can't imagine you writing about that. Are you writing about the Miami River in Ohio?

This is a beautiful rendered poem. The photo gives the poetry its blessings with magnificant beauty of hanging moss and placid warter. Lovely, Very much so.

If I had a boat that took me to a far remote place like you describe, I'd want to sleep in it forever, You make it sound very inviting. Nature trumps all other highs John . Thanks for sharing.

Great imagery. There is nothing like being in the splendor of nature to soothe a tired mind. And I love weeping willows, although I would never have one on my property. They might be graceful and beautiful in appearance, but they are a dirty tree.
