-- WHAT WE CHOOSE TO BELIEVE – John Herlihy We cannot escape the obligations of what we choose to believe. Any more than we can avoid what we ourselves choose to deceive. Universal truth is on display wherever we turn, whatever we see. Laws of natural order came into existence with the divine word BE. The laws of order and their harmony make no room for any doubt. Their existence invites notions of belief that we must think about. Earth turns on its axis, revolves around the sun that spirals in a galaxy. What we choose to believe strikes the heart of this universal mystery. This in turn raises questions of birth, death and the life of the soul. Again, we cannot escape, we must write our beliefs on our life scroll. You think one way and I think another, together we come to terms. With the true meaning of our existence that within our heart burns. Human beings came into existence thru exercise of the Divine Will. While human thinking and perceptions born by exercising human will. The mind, a restless faculty, reasons thru life with certain limitations. It can only go so far, in wanting and in believing, in its expectations. The heart takes up the challenge of probing deeper into the interior. Unveiling the mysteries of trust and love with their motives ulterior. We are faced with an unknown, unproven truth, hidden from our eyes. Signs and symbols of truth surround us, but their deep core within lies. In the end, it is not what we see but what is seen with the inner eye. In consciousness lies a witness, connected to the Grand Master, the I. But it all begins with a firm belief and that faithful impulse to believe. As I was reading this I had the impression that I was standing amidst a group of wise ones all discussing and debating the truths of which you wrote here. The whole experience has given me much to think about.

HOW I DO MARVEL AT OUR MAGNIFICENT GOD...WHO IS RULER OF THE UNIVERSE AND HAS THE POWER AND MIGHT TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO, YET STILL...HE GIVES EACH OF US THE 'C-H-O-I-C-E' TO BELIEVE WHAT WE WILL. Reminds me of the saying, believe nothing you hear and only fifty percent of what you see. Seek and you shall find. Another well written piece with substance.

i loved every word of this. and it is true, universal truth is everywhere- we can play by it or hate it, it will still express itself. thank you for writing this piece, John. i feel exhilirated reading it. truly, the heart, heaven, and subconscious are one and the same. we are what we believe, they've been telling us in the simplest terms.

What if there is no Grand Master or Divine Will and no one to make the initial pronouncement, "Be." And the chaos and great destruction that comprises much of the universe just follows the laws of physics and gravity creating galaxies with billions of stars and bits and pieces of matter comprising planets of all sizes and shapes, mostly spherical if they are large enough to create their own gravity.

Somehow, John Lennon, concisely and beautifully summed it all up with the lyrics to his, Imagine.

Here is tangible proof (IMO) that John Herlihy is moving forward with his craft as he ages. You seemed a bit concerned about that in "I Never Knew". Finding common grounds with another is far better (IMO) than heated disagreements. I've learned (in my life) that the most immutable barrier in nature is between one man�s thoughts and another�s. Peace.... r

As you bring out, the "inner eye" and the subsequent lines of the stanza allow one's belief principles to be what they are, not what other's may wish they were, Such is part of the answer to avoiding wars often derived from minds and hearts that have chosen to live by the supernatural/dominant oligarchical rule at the expense of humankind's demise... and yes, such may well be the future. Eye-opening write.
