Thanks to J. Allen Wilson for the idea here, be sure to read his newest, "Make Believe"...

Land of Imagination…

When we were kids, yes the “older” generation,

We all found great and absolute elation,

In going to our special place in a land some thought an aberration,

But to us we knew it was real, we went there when we needed a vacation,

From the horrors and harrowing times that reality produced…

We did all this when we were very young, I recall doing so still at twelve,

For us boys something else came along that took us away around then, masturbation,

But even as an adult, I do use this land to get away from reality,

Not as much as when a young child,

But to a degree that most might find an odd manifestation…

What is so odd, I ask you truly, this infatuation of mine with imagination?

I can be what I want, where I want and when I want,

It does create however just sometimes a bit of procrastination,

So before you believe I deserve an institutionalization,

Look in the mirror and ask yourself, do I do the same?

Yes, do for yourself a preliminary examination…

So if I seem to be out of touch, or have a problem of a psychiatric nature,

Well then so be it, as long as I can live forever in the land of imagination.

Look around you, Ed, m'dear... you're surrounded by kinships, all of us happily and entirely involved in our 'lands of imagination'... I can't relate nor am I ever drawn to someone who doesn't or can't explore that land you've written so well here. Good stuff! katy xox.

Ed, if it wasn’t for using our imaginations, we would surely be locked up in the Ha Ha Hotel… lol! Well, let me rephrase that my friend, I’d be locked up for sure…lol! The poetry and content were exceptionally well [ handled ] properly… lol! It’s always a pleasure dropping by your remarkable Den, my friend! Had a great time strutting down memory lane! Give Rufuz an extra bone. Peace thru using ones imagination! Take care and be well!

But to us we knew it was real, we went there when we needed a vacation,
From the horrors and harrowing times that reality produced…

Thankfully, I loved my childhood, and never had to retreat to a fantasy world to escape it as far too many youngsters do. But that doesn't mean I didn't utilize my imagination to the utmost. While camping in my backyard with my dogs, I often closed my eyes and was magically transported to the jungles of Africa or South America.

And I never plan on giving up my vivid imagination, even if I live to be 100. Hope you don't either, Ed.
