On my Perch

On My Perch…


 


A bird I have always wanted to be,


Perhaps in my last life that was me,


They do have such a nice life,


Not near the ground, in the sky without strife…


 


Here I sit on my perch in the tree,


I have tried to fly but my paws did disagree,


Tried to soar like those squirrels with wings,


For a moment or so I have done so to a degree…


 


Up here I can see everything,


I wonder what it is like up in the sky,


I do swear I was born into the wrong body, no lie,


I should have been a bird with wings,


Instead I do just hunt same, I am sorry I can’t tell you why,


Must be a part of being a kitty, its inbred, I just cannot deny…


 


So while I am a kitten,


I will dream of being a bird,


Surely when I do get older,


Those dreams will no longer be heard,


But until that time I will not of my dreams give the cold shoulder…

Hmmmm... yes, I know you have addressed this delightfully wistful piece to that adorable pic, but one could easily read it as a human wish for flight and total freedom... and I am quite sure you could see that. (smile) This was lovely to read, Ed. katy xox.

An adorable pic and write. Seems like you and I are on the same time line. Hope you had a great time last night, I know I did!! It was overwhelming to say the least...I am getting addicted to this place. If it wasn't for a laptop, I would never fit it into my schedule but I am glad too. Thanks Ed!

P.S. I want to stay a kitten forever...
