If tires could squeal

If tires could squeal…

What would they say?

How far they have gone,

How long on the ground they did lay,

Wish they could themselves spawn…

The bigger they are makes them older,

The smaller they are makes them bolder,

As small tires on cars do race around corners,

And bigger tires on trucks like mine do spin slower,

Or tires that were made for grass mowers…

If they were attached to shiny wheels of chrome,

Would they be more prone to roam?

If they were attached to the factory wheel,

Would they do more on corners peal…?

Would they tell us about their maker?

Goodyear, Firestone or Goodrich,

If they did not like that company,

Would they in fact let us know they are a bitch…?

If tires could talk,

Would they tell us how well or badly we drive?

Would they explain to us how to better survive?

Would they tell us during the ride?

Or wait till we do end the drive and arrive…

This is an interesting thought and my cars tires would say to my husband. "Hey you dummy that hurt when you hit that big bump or hole in the road." My husband is wonderful but he seems automatically attracted to the biggest hole in the road.

Ed,

I never gave it a thought until I read your poem. Food for thought. I'd better start putting my best foot forward. Fun read.

very humorous take on the world tires - this poem has plenty of tread and you've made a lot of mileage out of the subject. Big wheels keep on turning, Ed! kenny
