Oil Change…A pain in the butt...

And to think there are those out there that really WANT to own a car...;-)

Poem Artwork

All my Jeeps were super easy,

Never got me all oily & sleazy,

Just slide right under & open the plug,

Close it, change the filter, then re-fill, glug-glug…

But this Pontiac with the pan plug tight,

Had to get a friend & neighbor to help,

Getting it back on was nothing, just turn right,

But then came the filter, now THAT was a freakin’ fight…

After awhile my neighbor did figure it out,

Now for sure I even can do it, no doubt,

It ain’t gonna be often as it is still not too easy,

Just the mere thought of it makes me now queasy…

I am NOT spending money at Jiffy Lube,

So the next time I will do it myself though I’m still a rube,

I was startin’ to think of myself as the proverbial boob,

But even when my neighbor (backyard mechanic) started to blow a tube,

I wanted to take from my last poem a acid-laced sugar cube…

Yep, it's pathetic when you need special tool for an oil filter, or it's mounted so high up in the spaghetti you need a 3 foot diameter drain pan and a double jointed elbow. Wait till you have to replace a turn signal light bulb or head lamp. New adventures await you. Patrick

Ed, I bought a '95 Ford Taurus a while back, opened the hood, couldn't find the oil filter, and decided that I would not make this more work than it was worth...Auto Mfg. Companies have made it impossible to work on our own cars...so, I sold my car and now rely totally on public transportation...it ain't ideal, but it works, and I don't have to change the oil, rotate the tires and all that other stuff.

Cheers,
Dan
