More age related than humor, but...

MIDDLE AGE…

Why do you suppose they call it that?

Is it between young and old?

By the way, who the hell are “they” anyway?

The middle-ages was a time of strife,

When wars were fought over religion,

And people died of indecision,

And disease was rampant.

Has anything changed since the middle-ages?

Here we all are, in our middle aged lives,’

Trying to figure out what in the future lies,

We write poetry, stories and stuff,

But maybe we all, not just me,

Are basically just full of belly button fluff.

Middle Age is a time of constrained fun,

Not like our 20s when we ruled the world,

Put our hair in curls,

And made out with the girls.

Now we still make out, but more with the remote,

And find comfort in sitting on the couch,

Letting the kids take care of the lawn,

And lifting the heavy stuff so we don’t say ouch.

What else can I say, about Middle Age?

Most likely a lot,

But just not,

At this very moment,

As now I got to go take out my teeth, let them soak,

Change the battery in my hearing aid,

And exercise my right thumb,

As I can’t operate the remote with my left,

                 Damn arthritis…

Ed, you've convinced me. I refuse to grow up!
I shall skip this part -- Reverse course to second childhood -- Leap forward, to world's oldest child.

This is good reflection on what we all must go through if we wish to get to a "ripe old age" I suppose. Thank you for this offering, Ed. Love and peace to you. Regis

Here's a helpful hint for a fellow middle-aged guy, Ed. Let Rufuz salivate on your false teeth; and smear that juicy saliva all over them. Shines those puppies up like new!! (Of course, I tried it on my wife's teeth first)

Middle age is midway between comedy and tragedy. One time looking back to the days you reigned like a king and the other time looking forward to graceful exit. It is a crisis point. Head becomes busy and you gain weight in the waist. Gradual takeover of responsibilities by children will be take place. Middle age means having one leg heading towards the grave while the other shows some resistance. When both agree to go together, you absolutely moved to the last stage of your life -- Old Age. Excellent work.
