Thanks for this very insightful exposition, Danae. I actually did my doctoral dissertation on the behavioral aspects of the open- v. the closed-mind. While I do not presume to have any ready answers about how to transform a closed mind to an open mind, the dominant variable that swamped all others was education. But sometimes even a lifetime is not long enough to open minds that refuse to listen, to read, to observe, and to learn from their experiences.
With the world's conundrum twirling around as if in a washing machine with a extra long cycle, your single and double word assessment of what really matters and what doesn't is very poignant. If more people read this and copied it, placed it on their bathroom mirror, you know what? Probably some would let some consciousness back that might guide their 'consequences' in the right direction instead of their reckless pursuit for whatever THEY consider worth the price of the outcome.
