I love the outrage, the innuendo and the truth hidden in this wonderful satirical piece.
I finally think I know why people want to have their bodies pierced. A ring makes a convenient way for them to be tied down and hauled around on a leash.
Some say there is no justice even in the afterlife..."you'll get pie in the sky when you die--it's a lie!" Others believe it is our last chance: "O death, where is thy sting?" Another brilliant poem, Danae, reminding us that the bastards are everywhere, and our throats go for less than $20 on their shopping list.
One tiny solution would be term limits, but honestly, I think we are too far gone.
As a very NON famous author wrote in 2012:
All that counts is the party and the pride
And the country is just along for the ride.
But you are right. The problems are much more wide spread than politics. It's an over populated planet.
That's the trouble with a tapestry. You pull on one thread, and the whole thing starts to unravel. It's the same thing when truth gets blurred, and leadership becomes entertainment driven by ratings as they slit our throats.
You are making very good points withing the poem. "one day, / The heads will roll." Yeah, but usually those who then come to power usually have to impress, and they usually become more influenced with "their" standing and it begins all over again. Its a rat race up there.
History is such a teaching mechanism, yet far too few take the time to read it or watch it being made by sound journalistic reporting either in newspapers of integrity, or rational newscasts. Your piece here asks that we manifest longer-term attention, move away from sound bite and tweet play time and truly learn and act. Speaking of history... "Vote the midterms!" should be an addition to the other battle cries of historical survival in crisis mode.

Love, romance, innocence, intrigue, danger, and lust. Life is complicated, and love even more so. Life, and love, can be hazardous to a lady's health. Especially if she's fallen in love with a married pop star.
