We were sent up to the

Nijmegen Bridge in Holland

During ww2, As

The only road to the bridge,

Needed constant repair.

Seems a quagmire developed

And just swallowed all the debris

We could pour into it.

We worked day and night

Blowing up any damaged buildings

And using the bricks as fill

For this important road.

It was the only supply road

For the British  2nd Army,

Who used the Nijmegen Bridge

That led into Germany.
