Lex does seem to have some twisted evil in mind when carrying out his perception of what the people want. Perhaps he is just deluded into thinking that he knows what they really want and he doesn't have a clue.
It seems to me that mild-mannered Clark Kent, in the "mean liberal" newsroom, would not have to even change clothes to ask the disillusioned Lex just the right questions to get him to wonder, "Why am I here and how can I get out of this place?"
If you and I and they and them could all come together for the common cause, we could damn straight shake things up, huh? Even more so than it is already shaken up.
