A Little Cruddy
The toy box was broken, It’s contents just the same
I dug down in worn out toys until I suddenly came,
Upon an awful dirty thing, just what I didn’t know,
Maybe it was a doll or something from along, ago,
It had no arms but only feet. The stitching popping out
I tossed it towards the trash can and heard a crying shout,
My youngest daughter let me know in no uncertain way,
He was her favorite dolly, “You can’t throw him away!”,
I asked her what you call this thing, he’s grimy torn and muddy,
She picked that thing up, squeezed it tight and said his name was Cruddy,
Well I’ll agree with all that grime that name would certainly fit,
She very proudly told me that, her older sister named it,
Years would pass and my wife and I, would play their silly game,
And just be sure to hide ol’Cruddy ,whenever company came,
Finally an idea hit me, when we replaced a wall,
Believe me to get rid of him, Man I’d tried it all,
I told the kids , I needed Cruddy to hold this board in place
We could always get him out , that this was just in case,
Ol’Cruddy was just a sitting there in that insulation,
Probably wonderin what was happening, to his situation,
I told the kids he’s sitting, like a king upon his throne,
It might be nice to leave him there, he’d never be alone,
He’ll be there to listen, to everything that’s said,
Remember how you cuddled him, there sleeping in your bed,
No Ol’Cruddy won’t get hungry, he’s not made to eat,
He’s the kind that just gives loving, every time you meet,
In some ways he’ll be like Jesus, who’s around us everywhere,
To give comfort when you’re lonely, unseen, but always there,
Tomorrow he’ll be covered, so say Good Bye today,
Remember there he’ll always sit, he’ll never go away,
Some day you’ll have a little girl, when this ol’house is gone,
You’ll remember dear ol’Cruddy, and wish he’d came along.

Talk about a fly on the wall! Ol'Cruddy can't see what's going on, but he sure can hear through that sheet rock every missed word that comes out of every mouth. At least he can't get out he turns into Chucky. ;-)
