Country Singer
Reckon I are a Country Singer, That’s what I’ve been called ,
Bow legged as a French provincial, and prone to sayin Yaw’ll,
What got me into Country , I don’t think was heaven sent,
Most folks seem to really think ,it was a lack of any talent,
Now I can’t really disagree, cause it’s for sure I ain’t ,
Never won no CMA, but who’s to say I cain’t,
After all the kinda songs I sing, the words mostly are the same,
Except in some it ain’t the girl, the bottle gets the blame,
From the bedroom to the bar room, a few good drinks and then,
It’s back from that ol’bar room , and back to that bed again,
Now a feller kinda asked me, if I knew where the diff-er-en-ce’s lie,
Between a Country singer, and a Country Western guy,
Well I thought about it considerable, and the answer is of course,
Country does the walkin , Country Western rides a horse,
But now here’s a really sad part, that ol’cowboy gets too tight,
Sings his hit song backwards, and moans the blues all night,
But it ain’t now what you’re thinking, It could be that he might ,
Not want to face his angry wife, that came back home tonight,
Well I got an offer, to audition, just like once before,
That I might be the singing cowboy, they were lookin for,
So I laid it on’em slowly , with the moaning guitar blues,
One called, “If you leave me darling, can I come along with you”,
I said I was a singer, like a real live trou-ba-dour,
They answered Yes, you’re truly bad, and threw me out the door,
Now comes a sad career change, I ain’t no Country singer,
I gotta go back to my day job, as a gen-u-ine Bull Slinger.
