How to fix that car door.

The Do It Yourselfer

Do I know what I’m doing? No but I know that already,
Here just hold this door, and try to keep it steady,

There’s nothing in that book, for me to read about,
These hinges ain’t that difficult, I done figured them all out,

If I press down on this spring right here, that center pin will drop,
Now push down on that sharp edge, I’ll tell you when to stop,

Hey Hold It , hold it! No I got it! Look out! ,the whole door fell!
Yeah, it landed on my foot, I’ll be laid up a spell,

Yeah, the doctor’s got me grounded, but we can hang that door,
I’ve got some trouble walkin, but my foot ain’t really sore,

See now what'd I tell you, that job was a piece of cake,
We could take another job , look at the money we would make,

Don’t look so worried Dear, think of the money we just made,
You have any idea what a mechanic now gets paid?

With blazing eyes she looked at me, and, slowly shook her head ,
Then I listened very carefully, to every word she said,

“It cost Medicare three thousand, Insurance paid the rest’
We missed your last car payment and our savings is a mess,

I’ve got Doctor Bills and prescription pills that’ll keep us broke till Spring,
And here you’re braggin bout fixin up a fourteen dollar thing,

Mister Frugal let me tell you, when all is done and said,
If you try to save us any more money, you’re gonna wind up dead

Mr. Fixit!! Stop trying to fix things. It will be cheaper in the long run if you have someone do it for you. You sound like someone I know! LOL!!!

Love ya!

This reads like it was actually experienced. The more likely story is getting up on a ladder to do something to save a few bucks and then falling off. But dropping a car door on one's foot is truly unique. When it comes down to it, that last line is priceless.

I'll try fix it myself,
if I can.
Thank goodness for you tube videos,
To give me a hand.

Love your humor.

And this is life with the little woman! Methinks you'd better ask her opinion before you start the next money-saver job.

Laughing at your description,
Connie
