Maybe I don't wanna go there

Doctoring

When it comes to doctoring, I’m not your brightest son.
I filled out all those papers and never read a one,

Guess that just about does it, The doctor said come in,
We’re gonna have to test you, we might as well begin,

For your age you’ve had good health, for so very long
I can’t charge your insurance if, I can’t find something wrong,

I guess it’s now the Third degree, they’ll run me through the mill,
You can bet your boots, a full exam, will sure run up a bill,

We’ll , try upper endoscopy, hard to say what that might bring,
If not a colonoscopy will show up everything,

I’m still not sure just what it was that they had suspected
But It appears that everything came out; as they had expected

What’s going on that’s plain to them, it sure is Greek to me,
Reckon I’m just the insured party, known as the payee,

The nurse was kinda choking, about to have a seizure,
You really need a room deodorant, during that procedure,

I’m worried about a joking comment following the oscopy,
Maybe we’ll find out what it is during his autopsy,

I was their thousandth victim, or patient, I don’t know which it was,
But I sure know now, what that ol’nurse, with that cold hose thingy does,

I can truly tell you, this is something l won’t miss,
I strongly don’t endorse it, for your Bucket list,

The Doc said take two aspirin every day, no matter where you go,
I’ve gone to work, the gym the park, and now I’m back home so,
Tonight I’m taking them two with me, to a picture show.

Good bye Good luck and much obliged, I really mean it Not!
And with a thrill , I paid my Bill, You know I lie a lot !

Yesssss! I am of the age where things happen to me, and am grateful for caring doctors who have guided me through many of them. However, and you just had to know there had to be an however, they just do NOT give up trying to find more "bad" things. Next month I will have to go through an MRI four times one after the other on the same day. I asked why? I wasn't hurting. They just murmured that they just "had" to be sure. I have emphysema and an am terrified to be in confined places. Claustrophobic. Told the doctor that and he sent me a prescription for four Valiums to be taken between each session with the damn MRI. I dread it. Big time. Your poem was darkly humorous. You are an excellent writer.

Good humor of a humorless subject & I wish you didn't mention the nurse with the cold hose thingy, I could have lived without that visual...-e-
