Try sitting down for this one

Sweet Albert

His name was Sweet Albert at least what I was told,
I brought him and others to the Canyon to find a little gold,

The old Luck’s miner cabin, That’s the shack where we all stayed,
it was full of bats and pack rats , dear Sweet Albert was afraid,

I told him to go dump his bunk, all that stuff was pack rat’s leavings,
Go outside and cut some grass, You’ll find it far more pleasing,

With much distaste and horror Sweet Albert made his bed,
When I blew out my lantern , I can’t repeat just what he said,

The pack rats came out scrambling and the bats flew over head,
Sweet Albert couldn’t take it and screamed to wake the dead,

He swore the rats climbed up in his bunk and he just couldn’t take it,
I said, Hey, keep your hands up off the floor, The pack rats then can’t make it,

And keep it down, now will you ,a killer’s ghost lives in the cellar ,
And You don’t wanna wake him, cause he’s not a pleasant feller,

I don’t think that he believed me, it was a joke you understand,
Then once again he screamed aloud ,a rat had bit his hand,

I can’t take it , I can’t take it, You gotta get me outta here,
I said OK, OK, I’ll run off the rats, just a minute calm your fear,

With that I went to the cellar door And broke it’s weather jam,
I raised it up wide open and then I let it slam,

In the cellar there were rattlesnakes , They blasted
on full rattle,
The pack rats scrambled outta that cabin like stampeding cattle.

Maybe Now I’ll get some sleep, Sweet Albert won’t be yellin,
What’s comin next to keep me up, there just ain’t no tellin

But if some one does more yellin, I know it won’t be him ,
Cause when the pack rats left the cabin Sweet Albert ran out with them !

There's one in every crowd. We used to call them scaredy-cats. But your poetic description of sweet Albert and his troubles is fun reading on my part.

Me and Albert both would be running out of that cabin, though I would have never entered in the first place...-e-

Rats and bats and snakes, Oh my!
No wonder Sweet Albert said goodbye.
