Black Mojave
Stories ? Yeah I reckon that I’ve told a few,
Some were kinda shady , but some were almost true ,
But this here tale I’ve told far and near,
And I confess, it started right about here,
Now chicken cock fightin ain’t a real legal scene,
But , I ain’t either , If you get what I mean,
So down to Quartzite a few years ago,
I took a few chickens to enter the show,
Well the Black Mojave, my own special breed ,
Gave Championship Roosters what they didn’t need,
They beat off a bunch and laid out a few,
That wished they were dead before the evening was through,
Excited reporters, demanded I heard,
To give them the history of these special birds ,
Well I kinda nodded , spit a time or two
Cain’t tell no story wihout a straw to chew,
Now I bought this Ranch with a full western breeze,
Where only grows cactus and Joshua trees,
Where the world’s at Peace thru the day and the night,
Where’s there never a quarrel, complaint or a fight,
Where my cats and my dogs would never take a lickin,
Till they crossed the path of this damn black chicken,
He lived in the cactus where the drift sand blew,
Eatin Horney toads , spiders and rattle snakes too,
He was meaner than a Wolverine, with spurs like a knife,
I had to pen up Dobie for fear of her life.
He rustled all my chickens and killed my big duck,
Then tore out the plastic grill on my truck,
Now two years later in a winter real bad,
I trapped me a bunch of chicks that he had,
And I’ve only lost one in a five year span,
He was killed in a fight with an electric fan,
If the old Devil died and then he came back
I’ll bet he’d be leaving a black chicken track,
He’s the Devil’s own chicken and meaner than sin
And I’ve never travelled to where he ain’t been,
You’ll think I’m kidding but never turn your back,
That mean little sucker will fly and attack,
That’s the tale o these Black chickens all right,
But I goytta warn you folks in Quartzite,
Two got away from the Officials tonight,
They played to be dead and then they took flight,
I heard Tonto shout,as they flew outta sight ,
“ Me no Chicken Kemo Sabee!
Me go catch’em Black Mojave!”

Now down here in Houston we got the Vietcong kind. They likes to fly to the tree top and kill old hawk by surprise. What would Black Mojave think of those immigrants when they caught his eyes?
