An old story that won't let the cabbage go over your head

Runaway Elephant

The Scandinavian immigrants in the town of north Pacific,
Had never ever seen or had a Circus visit,

Barnum and Bailey was right on schedule to give this town a treat,
One of their elephants bolted during their parade on Diamond Street,

The Hi Speed chase was on by Sheriff Collins and Officer Brown,
The wailing siren and flashing lights just scared him outta town,

The following day a worried Mrs Sorenson called from down the road a bit,
Pleading, Officer Brown oh Officer Brown , I think I’m losing all my wits,

You must come quick there’s a terrible looking beast loose here on my street,
He’s got floppy wings a real long tail and telephone pole like feet,

Mrs Sorenson, have no fear he’s just the runaway Pachyderm we’re all looking for,
The Circus folks will be right over, he’s their pride and joy,

Officer Brown, oh Oficer Brown , he wasn’t packing nothing, but he scared us every one,
what should we do, he’s walking backwards to my yard oh God, what can be done?

Calm down Mrs. Sorenson , there’s no need for this suspense,
Did you say that he had stopped and backed up to your fence.

Oh yes , oh yes ! his long tails hanging in tearing up my garden patch, I’ve never seen a beast with a tail that could reach out and snatch,

My tomatoes are all gone , my beans are all pulled out, my cabbage will be next,
I’m afraid to go near this ugly beast, my whole garden he has wrecked,

And Officer Brown, oh officer Brown I daren’t tell you what it was my neighbor said ,
Where this terrible beast was picking up and sticking all of my cabbage heads.
