Another oldie poetically worked over

Drinking

His name was Leon Moses, he was a friend of mine,
but Booze was gonna kill him, some help I had to find,

Finally I convinced him to go see an MD, thinkin,
They could maybe help him to quit his awful drinkin,

Doc said , you’re way over drinkin, you’re gonna have to quit,
No ! No! Doc that won’t do but I guess I’m overdoing it,

But I can’t quit cold turkey, it would likely kill me
Yeah Leon, I understand it helps escape reality

But a fifth a week is surely way too much
How about if you tried Beer or wines and such,

Tried it all Doc, but whiskey’s all I crave,
Leon you gotta do something or you’ll see an early grave,

A fifth is twenty five ounces Leon, that’s a lotta booze,
And with that kinda drinkin, your life you’re gonna lose

Look I’m not opposed to drinkin but here’s something you can live with
For the next week beginning Monday, limit your total drinkin to just half a fifth,

That won’t cut you out and should help you to control it
Call me if you need, but this should help a bit,

Leon went home determined to take the Doc‘s advice,
He knew it would be hard to do fighting off his drinking vice,

On Monday night ,Leon, made a call, his ragged voice was draggin,
Doctor was surprised , Had he fell off the wagon?,

Doc I’ve got a problem ,your advice for Monday, I can surely live with
But on Tuesday should I drink the other half of that there fifth?

He fell off the wagon,
and landed with a thunk.
I just hope poor Leon,
is a happy drunk.

Makes me think the guy wasn't very good doing fractions in school. ;-)

Just to let you know, I am giggling…
