Bad times always start with Oops!

Just Call it Oops!

Oops is a word, I’m quite sure you have heard, with stories a gross, to unwind,
The incidents are many and sad tales are plenty of almost every kind,

Mom’s table took a whack, and when It cracked! Luckily She wasn’t there,
It was a spoke, that somehow just broke, that’s how it happened I swear,

Well She didn’t buy, my little white lie, and found the big hammer I hid,
That table top seating, wouldn’t take a beating, but brother I sure as heck did!

A Big Oops you’ll find is that fearful time you forgot an unhappy wife’s birthday,
You may have to greet, the yourself you meet, walkin that ol’ dog house path way,

And Oops time can be fatal, believe me if you would,
Stay off of ladders, unless you bounce real good,

I was either half way up or maybe half way down,
When I couldn’t find the step and Oops! I hit the ground,

There’s one big Oops that some folks would sure wish to forget.
A lot of drivers have had this problem; you can almost bet,

Hey that car there up ahead, now is that dummy dead ,
Get off the road and park it was the nicest thing I said,

He’s just bearly doin sixty, and i’ll just pass this clown,
Hit the gas, make a quick pass , then I’ll slow it down,

I rolled out with a roar , but when I passed the door , Oops! a big Texas star,
Man I was bookin, but staring there mean lookin, was a big ol’cop in that car,

I wasn’t in time to see the speed sign, surprised and then shocked alive.
A bright flashing Red, I knew i was dead{Oops}.The speed limit read forty five.

Now I’ll rest in peace, with this one at least, that probably needs no explaining,
No one’s left to say, for whomever should pay, or to do any complaining,

Because Oops is the word , the last one you heard, and one that you dreaded to hear ,
When the Bomb Squads disarming, it’s more than alarming, when Oops! you’re standing too near,

I've lost count of my oops moments which, because I worked with big computer systems, were often preceded by a "I wonder what will happen if I press this" moment.
Excellent humour and slick rhyming here Tom.

We've all had those experiences. Mine was returning home from my mother's house early on Mother's Day, kind of a bit euphoric and on the interstate. Doing about 80-85, easily passed the light green Plymouth "salesman" on that light traffic morning.

I was surprised to find a red and blue light emitting from that plain wrapped cop car. Went to court and listened to the judge browbeat a teenager who stole a motorcycle and drove it around in people's yards making a mess. When it was my turn, I browbeat the judge for his disturbing by otherwise pleasant and peaceful Mother's Day morning. He ordered me to pay the fine and said nothing else. I think he understood my Oops.

Ron
