The Middle Finger,

Everyone knows the middle finger and what it may imply,
Well, here’s the way I heard it and Its really not a lie,

Back in 1415 the English and French were having at it
And the French had formed a plan to even things a bit,

They cut off the middle finger of the English fighting man’
This reduced the captured soldier to only half a hand,

The famous English long bow used that finger in the middle,
Without it the Soldier couldn’t fight and his threat was very little,

The long bow was made from what the English called the Yew tree,
This was the beginning of history as you will no doubt see,

Known as plucking of the Yew as it was called, to pull the bow,
Without that middle finger, you couldn’t let the arrow go,

Surprise the English won and in joy the French were taunted,
By waving a middle finger that the English soldiers flaunted

They yelled and made verse, shouting we can pluck the yews, pluck the Yews! Pluck the Yews!
History warped this phrase a little, it was easy to abuse,

One other frequent phrase is a victim of this decent
English is sometimes hard to figure and has it’s own accent,

Arrows of the bow used pheasant feather’s what I heard,
That’s where you get the expression “Flipping of the Bird”
